This Dutch City Improved Its Bus Stops By Turning Them Into “Bee Stops”!

The Dutch city Utrecht transformed 316 bus stops into bee stops. These bus stops now have a green roof. They look amazing! Besides that, they are really useful as well. The nice roofs capture dust, provide cooling in the summer and have many benefits.

These roofs of bus stops are filled with sedum plants and are maintained by municipal workers.

Biodiversity

These bus stops were transformed into bee stops in order to stimulate biodiversity in the city. The purpose of the bus stops is to help and support insects like bees and bumblebees.

After smoking, the unhealthy environment is the second cause of diseases in the Netherlands. Therefore, this is yet another reason for the establishment of these kinds of bus stops. The goal also is to improve the quality of the air in Utrecht.
