At the last meeting at the London-based Royal Geographical Society, the International Earthwatch Institute declared bees the most important beings on planet Earth!
As they state, 70% of the world’s agriculture depends exclusively on bees and pollination. Pollination is one of the most important bees‘ functions which allows plants to reproduce. According to the report, without bees, the fauna on the planet would slowly begin to disappear.
A study by several universities found that bees were the only living creatures that didn’t carry any kind of pathogen. They do not carry fungus, viruses, nor bacteria, which makes bees the most important beings on Earth.
Unfortunately, this was decided at a time when we learn that bees on the planet are less and less. One study found that 90 percent of the bee population has disappeared in the past few years. The main reasons for the disappearance of bees are the uncontrolled use of pesticides, deforestation, and lack of flowers. Because of this, many activists demand the prohibition for using pesticides, they start and propagate the use of natural alternatives, and the health and survival of bees begin to be closely monitored.
Greenpeace also said that we can protect bees by banning seven of the most dangerous pesticides (including three that are full of nicotine). Also, we can try to preserve wild habitats and restore organic farming. This means avoiding giant farms that year after year plant the same plant, which is a big problem for insects.
