Lemon Balm: A Treasure For Your Bees’ Health

Melissa Officinalis, or the Lemon balm, is a plant that bees adore. It is also called bee balm, Melissa, sweet balm and heart’s delight. This is a plant that beekeepers use from ancient times.

Lemon balm is a part of the mint family. It has an incredibly delightful scent (something in between lemon and mint). Its leaves are often used by beekeepers. They crush them and provoke scent release. By doing so, they help worker-bees

find their way to a new beehive. That technique has been used since ancient times.

The main connection between Lemon balm and the bees

are the same chemicals that the balm contains, that are similar to the bees‘ pheromones. So, this is the reason why bees love Melissa Officinalis so much, and why it is so good for their health and development. Do not hesitate to plant some and provide your bees with good health.
