Bee Balm is a magnificent flower for the bees. This flower can appear in red, pink and white color. Its Latin name is Monarda Didyma and it is among the group of herbaceous perennials. “Herbaceous” are types of plants which do not have woody stems. “Perennial” plants are those plants that survive the winter, even though their above-ground parts don’t.
This flower is a true attraction to pollinators like bees, butterflies, hummingbirds. Bees love Bee Balm’s scent and nectar. It is best if we plant Bee Balm in a location which has a partial to full sunshine and air circulation. We should plant it in spring, or autumn. Please note that Bee Balm needs some space because it grows and spreads really fast. When planting, be aware to leave at least 1-2 feet between each plant.
Bee Balm belongs to the mint family and hereby has a minty scent. The petals of Bee Balm are attractive to bees. They have an amazing unique shape and this is their strongest feature. It grows during early to late summer. Bee Balm is native to eastern North America and it requires well-drained and moist soil. It can grow up to 2-4 feet.
Another useful and important feature of Bee Balm is that its drained leaves are used for making tea. Bee Balm’s red leaves are known for making Oswego tea. Furthermore, Bee Balm is good for dealing with fever, nausea, sore throat and headaches. Also, Bee Balm helps in treating skin eruptions, rashes, and infections.
